Seminar 3 - looking inwards with 16 personalities test
"What we think, we become." — Buddha
Using the 16-personality test, I found that I had changed from my previous profile of ‘Campaigner’ to ‘Protagonist’. This was a surprise to me as I believed I had aligned most with the characters that came under ‘Campaigner’, such as Phil Dunphy (Modern Family), Iron Man, and Spiderman. Funnily enough, they’re some of my favourite characters within media – so it didn’t feel amazing when I got a whole new profile – but upon reading this personality type, I knew I aligned well with being a protagonist. It was down to my environment; my placement played a crucial role in my growth.
According to 16Personalities (2025), ‘People with this personality type are devoted altruists, ready to face slings and arrows in order to stand up for the people and ideas that they believe in.’
I believe I am a natural leader, that also loves to help others. I don’t leave anyone behind, and I think that leaders need to rally their followers towards a common goal.
Another part of this seminar was having Simon Hill come in to talk about his experiences and how that has shaped his personality. He speaks with a lot of authenticity and whilst he spoke, he gave us Rubix cubes. I noticed when he gave us the cubes, we all played around with them, but this helps ideation and inhibits creativity. He then asked some individuals what they believed their strengths were, and what their weaknesses were. Hearing people be transparent and honest was refreshing, it made the class feel like a safe space. Simon’s story
